An advert for a betting firm seen on the dating app Tinder has been banned for linking betting to sexual success.
The advertisement for William Hill, which was sent as a message to users, read: "Stuck in the good friend zone? You will not be for much longer if you use this promotion code Cheltenham [horse racing] complimentary bet deal."

It was followed by a link to download the William Hill app.
But the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) stated it must not appear once again in its current form.
It stated that, according to advertising rules, gambling ads need to not link wagering to "seduction, sexual success or improved appearance".
"We thought about that the text ... suggested that those who gambled would be most likely to establish a relationship into a sexual relationship and therefore connected betting with sexual success," it stated.

William Hill initially defended the March advert after a consumer grumbled.
The company said clients who signed up would "get in into a relationship with William Hill", and the advert was supposed to relate this to the nature of business they were promoting on - Tinder.
It stated it was not its objective to link betting to sexual success.

However, upon reflection it agreed the ad could have been misinterpreted and took it down willingly.

William Hill stated: "We take on board what the ASA have actually said about this promotion code particular advert and have eliminated it from circulation."
Tinder meanwhile said it had actually evaluated the advertisement before publishing it, discovering it was not socially careless, offending or targeting minors.

One, the Bishop of St Albans, Dr Alan Smith, said he was "left speechless" by advertisements like William Hill's.
"The gambling industry's technique to self-regulation appears farcical as more of these adverts are exposed. I fear some wagering firms are now operating under a 'don't get caught' mentality.
"The ASA's robust action must be a wake-up call to the industry."
